WORLD SERIES RENAULT 2009 – SPA FRANCORCHAMPS, Free practice day

Driving the 450 bhp WSR car on his first visit to the legendary Spa Francorchamps circuit in the Belgian Ardennes provided Sten Pentus with an exciting and rewarding baptism of fire in the two free practice sessions on Friday.

In the first 60 minute free practice session Sten devoted his time to learning and getting to know the very high speed circuit. As it is such along lap he managed only 15 fast laps but was soon showing good progress and setting competitive times.

For the second session the team made a brake system change which seemed positive and Sten adapted well and again showed strongly in the time sheets, adding another 15 laps of valuable experience.

All in all it was a very good day and the team was impressed with how quickly Sten got up to speed. Fortec team manager Peter Crolla was pleased with the days work, “Sten showed excellent pace for somebody so new to the circuit, particularly when you consider how many laps all the other WSR drivers have done around here. He also like the brake change, so we are optimistic for tomorrow.”

Saturday will see early morning qualifying and the first race of the weekend in the afternoon.
