Christmas month December is the best time to visit Tallinn
December is the ideal time for visiting Tallinn, as the forthcoming Christmas offers many exciting activities for visitors. Among other things, visitors find Christmas markets, concerts, church services and workshops waiting for them in Tallinn.
In addition to the Christmas market located at Raekoja square, which was chosen as the best Christmas market in Europe by The Times, Christmas markets are also open in the Rotermann district and in the courtyard of the Three Sisters Hotel. There visitors can purchase Christmas-themed products and try their skillfulness in workshops.
Workshops are also open from the 19th to the 20th of December at the Estonian Open Air Museum Christmas village. In addition to other activities, the casting of candles is taught and tin is poured for good luck. The Christmas village has ten farmsteads open to the public, where different historic Christmas traditions are introduced.
Christmas church services are held in Tallinn in Swedish, Finnish, English and German. For this, one should head over to the Holy Ghost Church or the Swedish St. Michael’s Church.
For those interested in culture and music, the most appealing attraction is Christmas Jazz, which will be held from the 29th of November to the 17thof December. Overall, 26 concerts will be held in Tallinn, where Christmas-themed music is performed by famous artists from both Estonia and foreign countries.
